In addition to being widely used as an abrasive,boron carbide can also be used to make a variety of wear-resistant parts,thermocouple components,high temperature semiconductors,thermoelectric conversion devices on spacecraft,bulletproof armor,reactor control rods and shielding materials,and other key materials in the high-tech field.
Boron carbide can absorb a large number of neutrons without forming any radioactive isotopes,so it is an ideal neutron absorber in nuclear power plants,where the neutron absorber is mainly used to control the rate of nuclear fission.Boron carbide is used at nuclear reactors mainly in the form of controlled rods,but is sometimes powdered to increase surface area;
(2) Since boron carbide long ago it has been used as a coarse sand grinding material.Because of its high melting point,it is not easy to cast into artifacts,but by melting the powder at high temperatures,it can be processed into simple shapes.Used for grinding,grinding,drilling and polishing of hard materials such as cemented carbide and gemstone;
(3) Boron carbide can also be used as a ceramic coating for warships and helicopters,which is light in weight and resistant to the ability of armor-piercing bullets to penetrate the hot-pressed coating into a monolithic layer;
(4) In the arms industry can be used for the manufacture of gun nozzle.Boron carbide,extremely hard and wear-resistant,not reactive with acid and base,high/low temperature resistance,high pressure resistance,density≥2.46g/cm3;Microhardness≥3500kgf/mm2,flexural strength≥400Mpa,melting point of 2450℃.Because the boron carbide nozzle has the above characteristics of wear resistance and high hardness,the boron carbide nozzle will gradually replace the known hard alloy/tungsten steel and silicon carbide,silicon nitride,alumina,zirconia and other materials of the sand nozzle;
(5) Boron carbide is also used in the manufacture of metal borides,smelting sodium boron,boron alloy and special welding,etc.
Forsman's Texas plant produces a variety of ultra-high temperature ceramic powders,one of which is boron carbide,and also produces boron carbide.At present,the factory can produce nano level,sub-micron level,micron level and other different particle size products.Other granularity customization can be accepted.The packaging can be customized according to the customer's feeding quantity.Product size distribution span is large,can be customized according to the quantity of customer feeding packaging specifications.
